Les fonctionnalités des nouvelles balises de géolocalisation

Tracking Units

We commonly know geolocation beacons for locating people, as part of a global navigation, allowing family and friends to follow you. Or for isolated workers to ensure their location even in the most remote places. Or to track land or marine animals for research purposes, for example. Other applications are possible, with adapted equipment.

New Generation of tracker

Let's focus today on a new generation of beacons: the GSM-LTE-M beacons from BeWhere, a company specializing in IoT (Internet of Things).

These beacons have the advantage of operating on the low-power GSM 5G network, with a long battery life, in a very compact design. Many uses can therefore be imagined that apply not only to people but also to objects.

Three beacons have been developed to meet different needs:

  • BeMini is the smallest (1/4 the size of usual trackers) and lightest tracker for tracking very small assets indoors and outdoors. Thanks to its temperature and light sensors, it provides valuable information that can be supplemented with additional localization modules. Embedded humidity, pressure, or accelerometer sensors can be imagined. Rechargeable with included mini-USB.
  • BeTen is a long-life tracker for tracking assets end-to-end. Depending on the update rate, temperature, required power, and cellular technology performance, its battery will last between 5 to 6 years. It can also be integrated via an API (Application Programming Interface) into third-party software to increase data exchange and functionality possibilities. Highly resistant to extreme conditions, it will be the best ally for tracking, monitoring, and managing a wide variety of durable and perishable goods.
  • BeSol is based on the same technologies as its smaller siblings, with the difference that it is equipped with a solar-rechargeable battery. It therefore has great autonomy and robustness.

Cost, Deployment, and Coverage

These trackers also have the advantage of being very affordable and easy to deploy. Above all, they provide complete coverage in indoor and isolated areas. Indeed, they use several GNSS (Global Navigation System Satellite) i.e. satellite positioning systems (GPS, Galileo, Beidou, Glonass, and QZSS) for precise location of individuals or assets.
