Advanced Tracking, partenaire IoT de Globalstar

Advanced Tracking deploys over 2,000 SmartOne devices in the leisure boating sector.

Advanced Tracking, a value-added distributor for Globalstar, has deployed over 2,000 SmartOne Solar IoT transmitters to provide satellite tracking services to pleasure boat owners.

Advanced Tracking recently integrated SmartOne Solar into its platform www.konectis.com, a portal designed for pleasure boat users. Konectis offers multiple functionalities that can be managed via a dedicated dashboard and a user interface including an anti-theft alarm system. With the addition of SmartOne Solar, Advanced Tracking now allows fleet owners and individual boaters to benefit from efficient and ubiquitous satellite boat tracking via IoT.

"In the leisure boating sector, when you own boats from 10 to 25 meters, the budget is significant," says Christophe Allan, co-founder and CEO of Advanced Tracking.

"We knew that by integrating SmartOne Solar, we would have the ideal solution to offer budget-conscious boat owners an affordable and high-quality solution to track their boats," emphasized Christophe Allan.

SmartOne Solar – A low-maintenance and wide-range IoT device

The SmartOne Solar monitors all types of assets, fixed or mobile, including shipping containers, transport trailers, construction/agricultural machinery, and vehicle fleets.

SmartOne Solar offers a low-cost, low-maintenance tracking option, powered by solar-rechargeable batteries and capable of operating for several years. The device operates continuously for several months and sends two reports per day without needing exposure to sunlight.

The advantage of SmartOne Solar is that it does not require a connection to a power source, allowing it to be positioned in different places on the boat according to preference. It is small, easy to install, and offers good performance. Since the device is autonomous, simply install it and you're good to go.

It is becoming increasingly clear that satellite connectivity is essential for reliable and ubiquitous coverage. Users can try other technologies, such as VHF or GSM, but as soon as you are out of range, you lose track of the boat.

The partnership between Globalstar and Advanced Tracking dates back to 2010. At that time, Advanced Tracking introduced Globalstar SmartOne C to its platform to replace/supplement its existing satellite communications provider. One of the reasons, explains Christophe Allan, was the need for a backup satellite system to reduce exclusive reliance on a single provider. "Price was also an important factor," he adds: "SmartOne, along with Globalstar's airtime plans, offers a quality solution at a very reasonable price for customers."

"We are delighted that SmartOne Solar is helping pleasure boat owners track their valuable boats cost-effectively," said Mark O'Connell, Managing Director EMEA at Globalstar. "We commend Advanced Tracking for offering the growing marine leisure market a highly effective solution that facilitates tracking, enhances safety, and prevents potential breakdowns."
