Receive live weather forecasts at sea

Whether you are a professional skipper, a yachtsman on your own time or the owner of a boat that you use mainly for fishing, your real barometer is not your compass, as in ancient times... but the weather!

What will the weather be like today? What will the sea be like? Can I take my boat safely?

Discover the revolutionary new Advanced Tracking tool, to receive all the information you need on the weather forecast in real time when you're at sea!

How does it work?

It's quite simple: to access the service, you only need an email address and a support (a satellite phone, but also a tablet or a traditional mobile will do very well, provided they are equipped with a software like "PocketGrib"). The information will reach you in the form of a weather file generated by the most reliable computer source on the subject: the NOOA MMAB Operational Wave Model. Do you have a monthly subscription to Advanced Tracking for satellite geolocation? Our weather service, in addition to being easily accessible, is free... it would be a shame to deprive you of it.

What is a GRIB file?

Thanks to the Advanced Tracking system, weather forecasts are provided as GRIB digital files, which have an extremely high compression rate and can therefore be downloaded easily, even from a low-speed connection (with a satellite phone, the download time for a 2-8KB file is only 30 seconds). The files are generated from the boat's position, transmitted by the geolocation beacon it is equipped with. Not only do we not lose sight of you for a single moment, but we are also able to send you, in real time, the weather information you need!

How do I register?

To register, simply go to our interface www.whatusea.com via your login and enter all the necessary information in the "Alerts/Notifications" menu so that we can send you a file type adapted to your requirements and browser profile. In addition to your email address and the frequency with which you would like to receive our weather forecasts, you will also have to tell us the nature of these forecasts (wind, wave height, atmospheric pressure...) as well as their extent over time (at 12 hours, 72 hours...). It is also important, in order to be able to offer you a tailor-made service, that we know your coverage requirements (whether the boat is moving or stationary) as well as the radius of the area.
